India Vs South Africa - An introspection

Remember when you failed an examination. How many people remembered that - Your class, friends, relatives ? When you failed to make it to the IITs or IIMs, Who remembered ? How many times do you had the feeling of being the best in your class, school , university, state ? You failed to get a visa stamped this quarter, you missed a promotion this year, how did it feel when your dad told you in your early twenties that you are good for nothing and now your boss tells you the same.

You keep introspecting and go into a shell, when people most of whom don’t matter a dime in your life criticize you, back bite you, make fun of you. You are left sad and shattered and you cry when your own kin scoffs at you. You say I am feeling low today. It takes a lot from us to come out of these everyday situations and move on.

A lot, really?

Now here’s a man standing on the third man boundary in the last over of a world cup match. The bowler just has to bowl sensibly to win this game. What the man at the boundary sees is 4 rank bad bowls bowled without any sense of focus, planning or regret. India loses, yet again in those circumstances when he has done just everything right. He does not cry, does not show any emotion. Just keeps his head down and leaves the field. He has seen these failures for 22 years now. And not just his class, relatives, friends but the whole world has seen these failures. We are too immature to even imagine what goes on his that mind and heart. This is one reason, why I would never want to be Sachin. True, he has single handedly lifted the mood of the nation umpteen number of times. He has been an inspiration to rise above our mediocrity. Nobody who has ever lifted the willow even comes close to this man’s genius. His dedication and metal strength is unparalleled. This is specially for those, who would have made fun of him again last night when India lost. They are people who are mediocre in their own lives. Who just scoff at others to create cheap fun, who have lived in a small hole throughout their lives and thought they have seen the oceans. Think about the man himself. He is 37 years of age. He has been playing almost non stop for 22 years. The way he was running and diving around the field last night would have put 22 year olds to shame. The way he played the best opening quickies in the world was breathtaking. He just keeps getting better which is by the way humanly impossible. Its not for nothing that people call him GOD. But still I don’t want to be in those shoes. We struggle in keeping our monotonous lives straight, lives which affect a limited number of people. Imagine what would be the magnitude of the inner struggle for him, pain both mental and physical, tears that have frozen with time, knees and ankles and every other joint in the body that is either bandaged or needs to be attended to every night, eyes that don’t sleep before a big game, bats that have scored 99 international tons and still see expectations from a billion people. And he just converts those expectations into reality. We watch in awe, feel privileged.

Well I think its time that his team realizes that enough is enough. They have an obligation, not towards their country alone but towards Sachin. They need to win this one for him. Stay assured that he himself will still deliver and leave no stone unturned to make sure India wins this cup. This is not just a game, and he is not just a sportsman. Its much more than this.

The illegal allotment of licenses for the 2 G spectrum to telecom biggies in India has cost us a massive Rs 1,76,000 crores. The Chief Auditor General says that the cost of a pan-India licence could be anywhere between Rs 7,442 crore and Rs 47,918 crore. However, Raja issued a pan-India licence for just Rs 1,658 crore. And Raja jee still says that what he did was right.

In an another scam, it is speculated that Kalmadi & Co have swept almost 70 Billion rupees in CWG... gosh...!! They have made money in Queen's baton relay and several other illegal contracts which were awarded to their kiths n kins. CAG is yet to access the right scale of scam.

Yet another scam, Mumbai's posh Colaba area land (about 3800 square meters) was given to a private housing societiy. This is a defence' land and can not be given to civilians for any purpose but army took no action in this regard because several army officials, including former army Chief Deepak Kapoor himself, had flats in this society. This 27-storey building has been built in Mumbai's Colaba Navy Nagar area. Thou the value of this scam is meagre in front of the above two i.e Rs 500 crores (i feel ashamed to say this amount as a meagre.) but the top brass of the Maharashtra govt and Defence personals are involved.

In this season of scams, Yeddyurappa's land deals could dwarf the ones like Adarsh Cooperative Housing Society scam. Yeddyurappa's eldest son is the biggest beneficiary in the land-for-family-scheme in Karnataka. This scam is worth Rs 650 Crores.

The hard earned money of the citizen's of the country is going somewhere else. I cant donate my money to these scamsters So i have decided not to file my IT returns this year.

Thanks a ton Chanz for tagging me yet again.

I am supposed to mention 9 things that I have worn the most. Wooaahh..!! Gradually, i have started enjoying this tagging game and specially this one would be his is quite an interesting as i am supposed to click pics and put them for display. So, here is my list of 9 things straight from my wardrobe.

(Apologies for the poor picture quality)

1.) My Black shorts. I put them almost every odd day and i have traveled a lot and boarded lots of flights n Trains wearing this short. They are one of the most comfortable shorts i have on date.

2.) This Nike shot caller t-shirt was gifted to me by ma brother and trust me i have wore this almost twice a week for 2 yrs. I have worn this one every second day this summer. I love the comfort and I love the fabric. It is just perfect for a summer day.

3.) These track pants are the most frequently used cloth by me during winters. I just love blue and i use them at home, outside everywhere.

4.) My most treasured pair of jeans. I have similar 3 pairs all from Pepe London fit, one black and two basic blue. I just love wearing this fit.

5.) And now please don't be surprised at this one. My Jokey undergarments. I have 7 pieces each of vest (all white) and underwear (style 1005) of same color (all green). I dont why...but i have been repeatedly buying the same color and design for past 7 Years now. And i never feel like trying the other designs and colors. ;)

6.) This is my purchase of last Winters. I just love wearing them with my rugged jeans and a Tee. nothing like United Colors of Benetton when u want to look dashing and carry yourself in style. This keeps me warm all the winter.

7.) Nothing like this black jacket with a zip high neck. The fit and the comfort is just unbeatable. It goes well with my sporty style. My 1st choice with my blue denim when ever i am out during winters.

8.) My brown leather belt from Van Huesen. I use it almost daily whenever i step out of house. They go well with my formals as well as my rugged jeans.

9.) Last but not the least, some basics, which I use almost everyday. The after shave gel and the sunscreen lotion for men from Kaya for men, Garnier hair gel for the wet look and the Gillette series roll on to keep the body odor away and stay cool for the day.

I reached the nine quite soon. I am yet left with 5-7 items which i consider worth possession. Nothing like Converse All Stars or Nike joggers when it comes to casual/sport shoes or my Red Tape Blucher. My brown leather wallet which helps me to buy everything except happiness, i.e. various credit/debit cards and cash. and the list goes on and on..!

One of my close friend had a blog on cross dressing and the situation she has been facing for some time when the shifted to their new house. The comments dropped by the followers encouraged me to share the following information:.

"Today, everyone is talking about 33% reservation for women empowerment and need of reservation for the scheduled castes, tribes and other minor communities. Silently, a strange group of people are fading away from the society's view.

Who are they?
The Eunuchs- the Trans genders- the third sex- the kothis- the Hijra's.
Whatever be the name, they are one species of the HUMAN race who are born with a male physique and grow with a female psyche.

Is this their problem?
Of course not! It is the game played by nature during the maturity stage of the male sex. Purely the male sex. This is the stage when they enter into the stage of severe conflict about their own identity and get carried away by an urge to find a new identity. Unfortunately, denied any kind of social support.

Then another pain starts when they start seeking for a group of their own identity. When they join the group of eunuchs for social support, they need to take up a gender transformation surgery (process of removing the male genital organs). Since this kind of surgery is still not legally recognized, they are done in the most haphazard manner i.e., other eunuchs (Guru amma) performing it in the most unhygienic conditions. No anesthetics- no theaters. The surgery is over. One can here realize the pain a eunuch is undergoing during and after the process of this surgery. If at all some private hospitals do such a surgery, they charge a handsome amount as it is against the law.

When people long for recognition, they are the ones who do not want to be or dwell in the fear of being identified. It is because of the wrong projection of these transgenders by the media. How do we come to know about them?

* Clapping their hands
* Asking for money during good occasions
* Making odd movements
* Unusual dressing

Are they just this? How do they live? What kind of security does this society or Government offers them? This is a question left unanswered so long. Because they are totally ignored by the society, these eunuchs are pushed into a state of taking up sex work or begging as their means for livelihood that too under severe harassment of the Gundas and the police.

When they are out of their homes, if at all they have any,

* How do they travel?
* Do they get a seat?
* Which toilet will they use?
* Whom will they marry?
* Who will protect them in their final days?

These are some issues that pester the ultimate existence of the transgenders. Should they go through such a pain for the biological craziness? Why do we- educated, supposed to be rational human beings- absolutely ignore the existence of the third sex? When we know that there is a third sex, why don't the columns in application forms carry an extra word in the column of sex? Just because of this issue these people are devoid of

* Their citizenship rights
* Property rights
* Human rights
* Right to vote
* Eligibility for passport
* Obtaining driving license
* Ration card
* Opening a bank account
* Enjoying any Government scheme

Since this exploitation starts at the schools itself, they fear to face such an environment, thus discontinuing their studies. So no education- no job- no earning – no savings. How do we expect them to live? Because they are eunuchs, they need to pay more house rentals and face many such problems."

There is a strong need for a more sensitive approach in exploring these issues is required. The Government, NGO's and common people should start focusing their attention on addressing the needs of the third sex. As an educated class, we should strive to work for the advancement of this gender through:

Exploring opportunities and suggesting possibilities to the policy makers.

...today is one of those toughest days of my life and the night is even longer as i am scared of something i shouldn't have been otherwise. i along with two other friends of mine decided to take elisa test... 'm sure the name itself may give goose bumps to many. so i thought, i would share some useful information with all my followers.

HIV is infamous as Human Immunodeficiency Virus. A surveys says that it takes around ten years on average for someone with HIV to develop AIDS. However, this average is based on the person with HIV having a reasonable diet, and someone who is malnourished may well progress from HIV to AIDS more rapidly.

HIV is found in the blood and the seminal fluids of an infected person, and in the breast milk of an infected woman. HIV transmission occurs when a sufficient quantity of these fluids get into someone else's bloodstream.

The various ways through which a person can get infected with HIV:

Unprotected sexual intercourse with an infected person: Sexual intercourse without a condom carries the risk of HIV infection.

Contact with an infected person's blood: If sufficient blood from somebody who has HIV enters someone else's body, then HIV can be passed on in the blood.

Use of infected blood products: Many people in the past have been infected with HIV by the use of blood transfusions and blood products which were contaminated with the virus. In much of the world this is no longer a significant risk, as blood donations are routinely tested for HIV.

Injecting drugs: HIV can be passed on when injecting equipment that has been used by an infected person is then used by someone else. In many parts of the world, often because it is illegal to possess them, injecting equipment or works are shared.

From mother to child: HIV can be transmitted from an infected woman to her baby during pregnancy, delivery and breastfeeding.

Certain groups of people, such as injecting drug users, sex workers, prisoners, and men who have sex with men have been particularly affected by HIV. However, HIV can infect anybody, and everyone needs to know how they can and can’t become infected with HIV.

How can this be identified ?

ELISA test, a biochemical technique is used to detect the presence of an antibody or an antigen in a sample. The ELISA has been used as a diagnostic tool in medicine and plant pathology, as well as a quality control check in various industries.

Suggestion:

I never had any of the bad habbits which could infect me but why to take risk with my future partener. Life is precious, so lets do not waste it. Please go and check with the nearby hospital or pathologist to get the test done for HIV - I & II. It is conducted for free at most of the places and if at all you feel embarresed then go to any good private hospital and get the test for 500 buks.

Trust me, one sleepless night..is longer than many nights of sleepless fun. I am expecting the results tomorrow... Just pray for all of us three that the test is negative.

2010 - are we moving ahead or going back..??

as the nation celebrates its 61st Republic day, i was just trying to catch up with the ongoing republic day parade in the morning. All i could see on the television screen was a typical Dilli-foggy morning. But it has always been a family tradition to wake up early (9:30 is too early to wake up on a holiday) to turn on the television screen and switch to Doordarshan to watch the Republic day parade.

It makes me proud to be a part of the largest democracy of the world but i must admit at the same time that we are certainly not the best democracy in the world. If democracy means only a system where people elect their representatives to form the government, then ours is really a true democracy. But people like Mr. Raj Thackrey play smart politics to make fool of people.

The long awaited women's reservation bill has been passed from Rajya Sabha. The country has taken a big step by allowing women a real say in the governance and provide 33% reservation in parliament and state assemblies. When passed, this bill will change the political landscape of the nation by helping women reach the place which other wise remains a male bastion. This Bill was introduced in the Lok Sabha on September 12, 1996. Though it has been introduced in Parliament several times since then, the Bill could not be passed because of lack of political consensus. But why did this take so long to pass a bill of such high importance ? How has this been possible now ?

In democracy, every one has equal right, then why reservation ? As the world is moving ahead, would this really help ? Are we really moving ahead ?

Women who have proved time and again that they are at par with men. More than reservation, they need education, empowerment and uplifting. Reservation is not a solution to empower women. Legislation may help to some extent but what needs to change is the mindset of people in our country. To administer a country, we need merit, not reservation. I wish this Bill is not mis-utilized, as in the past we have seen the uneducated wife of an ex-CM take-over his post solely on the merit of her husband.

8 shows are too much for me, as i hardly get any time to watch television. But keeping the tradition, i can name a couple of shows like:

I like following the debates and the political issues at the news channels and these are some reason why i like them. The reality shows are a big NO.

Umm.. The kind of responsibilities i have been laden with these days, am getting ample opportunities to travel and am loving it.

1. Travelling. I am a travel freak and am always finding reasons for an escape from work.

3. Blogging. You guessed it wrong. I like posting comments on other's blogs more than writing ma own, I enjoy it a lot.

6. Playing Guitar. still a beginner for past 3 yrs.

...its probably because of the occasional do something attitudes that hits me every now & then. this is one out of it. guys don`t be surprised if this thing gets shelved - quite possible, keeping in mind the terrible work schedules that we all work under. i really don`t know how far it`ll go or how successful it`ll be. but i badly wanted to start something like this & what better place than to blog everthying out. truly an amazing way to communicate about your thoughts, feelings and life in general.

Today, its Lohri so i thought i would make a quick escape from the office. As i was coming back from work, walking towards the metro station. I was passing through an upmarket shops and showroom beside, and was gazing at them while walking down, when i saw some fancy suits, lehanga and other bridal costumes wooing the customers. Two girls were staring at them and were talking and planning about some upcoming festival or function. I felt proud to be a part of a nation where the culture and values are still alive. And then, i was lost in my own thoughts...walking up the stairs to board the metro.

Are the Indian cultures and the values still intact..?? A debate began in my mind arguing against it. I was trying to make myself understand that, yes the Indian culture and values are still preserved and practiced with dignity. And as the metro train heading towards Dwarka arrived, i boarded smoothly to find a place to stand in the middle of the two bogies. I saw an old man in his 70s striving hard to stand in the crowded, jam-packed train. Soon, he was offered a seat by a young man to which he nodded positively and got a seat. I felt good and relieved and got an example to support my view that the values and respect to our elders is still in our heart.

But what about the culture..? The metro culture and lifestyle has over shadowed the importance of our Indian culture. To start with the Clothes and accessories, the dressing and fashion style has changed miraculously and is heading to a new level of dearth. And the liberal attitude towards life, work and family has affected the young generation, the worst. Discipline is an ancient word to most of them. Things like worship to god or offering a prayer is past. A school going girl enters virgin into the college but before she comes out has already slept with 3 odd guys in three years of her graduation. And we claim that, we are the most rich culture across the world. We have a problem with the word “sex” in our titles, but are okay with the cheap tactic used on a reality show to increase the TRP’s, !! Beep has become a fashion on channels airing the so called reality shows.

One needs to apologize to political partiy for using the word Bombay instead of Mumbai, but BOMBAY TIMES, remains the most happening news paper in our country. Why is this one not called “MUMBAI TIMES” ?

And before i could come to any conclusion, my destination arrived and i boarded off the metro but the dilemma is still unsolved. Where are we heading towards..??

We must not blame just the children for this. Parents are equally responsible, as they hardly spend time with their child. In this life-style of metro, we even cant expect that our grand parents stay with us to nurture and impart the traditions and values. Its high time, parents should wake up and take out some quality time to spend with their son and daughters.

Day 1, (Time 4 am) :

...and the journey begins with a sudden change in the climate of Delhi as the clouds start roaring followed by a heavy downpour. I was very excited as this was to happen after a long time that i was re-uniting with my graduation friends. With the sudden change in the delhi climate, i was a bit skeptical about how would i commute from home to New Delhi Railway station. My brother offered me to drop and i accepted the offer firmly. We drove to station immediately to reach on time. My train was scheduled to depart at 5:30 am from new delhi station, but i could not see any sign of its arrival till 6 am so i was a bit worried, but still no less in enthusiasm. Finally, Firozpur-Mumbai Punjab Mail arrived and people started running here and there on the platform. I found my place easily in my B-1 coach, which was empty. I placed my bag and started looking for co-travellars, who would company me till the destination, but couldn't find one. I was drowsing as i could not sleep last night due to the excitement. The coach attendant appeared and i asked for my bed-rolls, to which he responded immediately. I slipped inside me bed-roll and started thinking about our BTM days.

(Time: 11 am) :

Today, its Janmastami and as we move towards our destination, Mani was supposed to board the train from Gwalior. He appeared on the right time at the station and duly boarded the train. He had brought our favroute "aunty ke kheer". Everybody in our compartment was amazed as they gradually noticed Mani's activities. Mani is a complete phone-freak and he cant live without his cell-phone even for a minute. Gradually, we both got into our rythm (we share an amazing chemistry) and shared our gossips. He is one talkative guy, who can single handedly take-on anybody when it comes to eating or giving views / re-views about the latest mobiles.
